Hello and welcome to Float Idaho!
We’re happy you’re considering being a member. We love the state and we love to paddle, so if you have a quality small craft (canoe, sit-on-top, paddle board, kayak, etc.) and like water (class III to class 1), you’ll be in good company. However, this is a potentially dangerous activity, especially on rivers. We want members that have basic river knowledge and respect for the environment and for their fellow paddlers. We also want to help you if you don’t know the basics. There are 4 parts to our membership approval and they are not hard. When you’re ready we’ll send you a form and you can digitally sign our agreements.
Part # 1 Code of Ethics/Participation terms: The first part of membership will be to agree with our Code of Ethics and Participation rules. Link to Code of Ethics/Conduct.
Part #2 Liability Release: The next requirement is that you execute a Liability Release/Disclaimer. Here is the document: Link to release .
Part #3: River Knowledge/prerequisite: This is important to us as we want you to at least have an understanding of moving water and some rudimentary safety knowledge before you show up at the put-in. So we’ve amalgamated some helpful videos (about 33 minutes roughly of videos) to get you prepared for a “put-in”. There will be a few basic questions on each, but it’s all straight forward and easy. Please take some time and watch these, they could just save your life. Link to prerequisite page
Part #4: Meetup Approval: Click here which will take you back to Meetup and you can request to be a member which will put all of this into motion. We do charge a nominal fee, $10.00 per year billed to you every 12 months to help cover our website and Meetup costs. Again, we are not here to make money from you, we’re just looking to cover costs.
We look forward to having you as a member and can’t wait to paddle with you on the water.
Sincerely,
Patrick Sherman – Organizer
